South Tyneside Council’s planning committee has given approval to national urban regenerator, Muse Developments, to bring forward The Glassworks – a unique 50,000 sq. ft office building in South Shields that will set a new standard for sustainable development in the region.

The scheme, to be built on brownfield land, comprises of open-plan office accommodation arranged over five storeys with basement parking, a reception area offering co-working space and coffee bar, as well as a roof terrace with panoramic waterside views.

The Glassworks is designed to achieve the UK Green Building Council’s 2025 net zero office energy performance target – a first for the north east, BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and WiredScore Platinum certification for digital connectivity.

As project managers for the scheme, Ward Robinson are delighted to be involved and look forward to the start of construction later this year.
