Our project management team has recently been commissioned to manage their second project for Tombola, the UK’s leading online bingo provider. Following the success of their previous role during the construction of Tombola’s new UK headquarters in 2019, the team has been appointed to manage the refurbishment of the Roseline Building, Tombola’s former HQ at their Sunderland Campus.

Dating back to the late 18th Century, the Roseline Building originally stood as a warehouse on the banks of the River Wear until late 1990s when the building was restored and converted into private office space. After being tenants for many years, Tombola purchased the site in 2010 and transformed the space into their original headquarters.

Refurbishment to the Roseline Building will continue the regeneration of Wylam Wharf following the recent completion of phase one, Tombola House. Tombola are keen to apply the founding design principles to phase two, ensuring synergy between the two developments. Ryder Architecture have been appointed as project architects and have produced a design that will transform the five-storey building into a modern working environment. Inspiration from the site’s unique riverside location and rich history has resulted in features such as projecting windows; reminding us of a time past when dock workers used the openings to operate rudimentary pulleys. With plans to include office space, meeting rooms, training spaces and flexible collaborative break-out areas, the grade II listed building will form an integral part of the Tombola Campus.

Refurbishment works are due to start this month with completion expected in summer 2021.
