This summer, some of the Ward Robinson team are tackling this years Tough Mudder obstacle course on the 27th July. The team are going to run (or crawl) 10 miles through the mud with the aim of raising £1000 for the charity ‘Feed My People‘
Feed My People was set up in 2010 by a member of the Ward Robinson team, Laura Bailey alongside fellow trustees Dr. Alice Caulker and Tricia Tear.
Dr Caulker, originally from Masokoh, Magburaka in Sierra Leone, has lived in Gateshead for over 30 years with her family, having practiced medicine for the NHS in North Tyneside. Following the 12 year civil war which left Sierra Leone in dire straits, Dr. Caulker decided to give something back to her community in Masokoh. She set up the Feed My People Masokoh Project together with Laura and Tricia, with an aim to build a school which would provide good quality education and inspire the children of Magburaka.
After years of fundraising, Hope Academy International officially opened in September 2016, educating 30 students ages 10 to 16 years. To keep the school up and running long-term, each month the charity needs to raise £1,000 to pay teaching staff salaries, maintain the school, introduce electricity supply, ensure security and to increase the capacity of the school by building more classrooms.
